INTERNATIONAL WEBINAR. EDUCATIONAL TOPICS.

Holocaust Day was celebrated on January 27 to commemorate the liberation of Auschwitz concentration camp which existed 78 years ago. 6 million Jews were murdered in the Holocaust.

Holocaust is known as the term for genocide against Jews by the Nazi regime during the World War 2.

The Nazis believed that Germans were superior, and they believed that Jews were the threat to the so-called German radical community and is the source of all evil. The Nazis harassed other groups as well like Roma, Ukrainians, Poles, Russians, and disabled people. Nazis wanted to murder them considering them inferior, separate hated races.

In Estonia, the international Holocaust Day has been commemorated since 2003 by memorial ceremonies in the Jewish cemetery in Rahumäe and seminars in the Vabamu museum.

Learning about the Holocaust is important not only because it helps us gain a better understanding of the past, but because it also raises awareness about contemporary forms of antisemitism and hatred.)

DKG Europe continued with educational topics. The guest was Marion Blumenthal Lazan from the USA who gave an impressive talk about her book 'Four Perfect Pebbles and a Holocaust Story.'
